SevenStock 24
SevenStock; the largest annual rotary event held in Southern California.
I had the opportunity to attend SevenStock 24 over the weekend, after a 3 year hiatus.
SevenStock is one event that I will always have a soft spot for. My dad used to take my family to these events after we moved from Okinawa - when I wasn’t really into cars and still in grade school. It wasn’t until I started admiring my dad’s passion for wrenching on his Rx-7, and insisting on helping in the garage, that I learned to appreciate and grow an interest in cars.
Along with helping him, we met a lot of other RX7 owners whenever I tagged along on a part-pick up run. All the owners were friendly and resourceful; I am lucky to still know some of them today as an adult. Their passion for these engines and chassis are astounding, and the knowledge they bring, as well as stories, are ones that help to make these cars special.
What began as just a local BBQ in Southern California in 1998, with less than 20 rotary enthusiasts, soon turned into large events with hundreds of cars, and thousands of rotary enthusiasts, beginning at Mazda Headquarters in Irvine, CA, to Pomona Fairplex, and finally Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA.
Thank you to the organizers who have been putting together this event for us for all these years!
